Play Therapy
Play Therapy offers children a safe, creative space to explore emotions, build resilience, and grow in confidence, at their own pace.

Play Therapy focuses on fostering play to help children understand their behaviour, express their feelings, & build coping skills. Younger children in particular frequently lack the verbal abilities necessary to express complicated emotions and experiences. Children naturally communicate through play. Children can learn to express themselves, comprehend their feelings, & form healthy behaviours through regulated play.

How to explain play therapy to children?
Integrative Holistic Model
Sinéad trained with the Academy of Play & Child Psychotherapy (APAC) who offers training in the Integrative Holistic Model of Play Therapy that is uniquely validated.
The tool kit includes, sand, paint, clay, puppets, music, movement, creative visualisation & therapeutic story. During Play Therapy a child can explore their thoughts, feelings & emotions in a creative & dynamic way without having to use words. Play therapy may be non-directive (where the child decides what to do in a session, within safe boundaries – adhering to Axline’s rules), directive (where the therapist leads the way) or a mixture of the two.
