Dr Sinéad Mc Donough, delivers online safety presentations to children in national/ secondary schools, teachers, parents, businesses and organizations. Having completed their PhD in the field of Forensic Psychology, Sinéad is aware of the challenges young people face when navigating the online world.
Dr Sinéad Mc Donough completed their PhD research that specialised in an area of Forensic Psychology. This led to an understanding of the dangers children can face when navigating online platforms and social media sites etc. These sessions are available to children in national & secondary schools, parents, teachers & organisations.
The Internet can be a great space for children to learn, play games and maintain contact with friends.
Unfortunately, however the Internet has made it increasingly easier for young people to be targeted by online offenders and cyber-bullies. Although many young people believe they are confident about staying safe online, they often forget to consider the consequences of their online behaviours which can lead them to oversharing sharing and putting themselves at risk. Many studies highlight the impact of spending excessive time online & the over exposure to harmful content on a children’s mental health, development & well-being. Presentations are tailored to meet the requirements of attendees & include the following topics. Online safety considerations when using social networking sites/social messaging apps, gaming, phone use, cyberbullying, cyber extortion & understanding the benefits & risks of AI (Artificial Intelligence).
